The process of installing external wall insulation

As expert accredited installers of Baumit systems, we ensure the process is as straightforward for you as possible. We consult with you thoroughly and arrange your installation at a time to suit you, sharing our knowledge and advice whenever you need it. This is the process for installing external wall insulation:

A basecoat adhesive called StarContact White is applied
This is followed by EPS insulation (expanded polystyrene), or mineral wool if the installation is over two floors or more. We can advise further, so the most appropriate materials are used for your home’s safety.
Mechanical fixings are installed – 6/m²
A StarContact meshed render basecoat is applied
The topcoat is applied in a colour of your choice

Please note that if you are insulating over 50% of a house, building control will need to be involved. We can advise further if required.

Baumit external wall insulation has a British Board of Agrément (BBA) certificate so it is acceptable to building control. Please note that if you are insulating over 50% of a house, building control will need to get involved and specify the U-values of the installation.
